When a New England–based couple flew down from Boston to tour homes on Lake Norman, just north of Charlotte, North Carolina, they never expected to find their dream home. Until they did. It took one look at the charming lakefront New England–style home located in the Peninsula community and the couple was smitten. “We flew down to house hunt for the weekend and this house was the second one we saw,” says the homeowner. “Honestly, it spoiled me for the rest of the trip. As much as my husband was reluctant to admit it, we both knew it was the one, even then.”
It’s that time of year when we fire up our grills and create some of the most delicious dishes using the endless bounty of the summer growing season. Although the flavors from a grill are simple and scrumptious, you can put these dishes over the top with a tasty compound butter, spicy aioli, or other dressing. We’ve got burgers, vegetable skewers, grilled salad, and even grilled fruit with a lick-your-plate butter rum sauce. Barbecue food never tasted so good.
