Curiosity for cooking is often fueled by travel. Even if your trip entails trekking through the pages of a book, the introduction to new worlds is revelatory—and, often, gustatory. Cooking can take you to many countries, through unknown languages, exotic ingredients, and foreign flavors. When I don’t have the opportunity to jump on a plane, I simply put on an apron.
Many of these recipes will be new to you. The hunt for ingredients should be part of the fun. As with travel, I encourage you to explore them with an open mind and an adventurous spirit.

It was a simple invitation. Steve Morgan and his wife, Didi, were invited by some of their close friends to take advantage of their gorgeous vacation home on Jumby Bay, a Rosewood Resort two miles off the coast of Antigua in the Caribbean. Though the 300-acre private island was an eight-hour flight from the Morgans’ home in northern England, they took their friends up on their offer.

Over the past six months, the Greater Vancouver
housing market has seen a reduction in the number of homes listed for sale, a gradual moderation
in home prices and a decrease in property sales compared to historical averages.
The Real Estate Board of Greater Vancouver (REBGV) reports that residential property sales of
detached, attached and apartment properties reached 1,686 on the region’s Multiple Listing
Service® (MLS®) in November, a 28.6 per cent decline compared to the 2,360 sales in
November 2011 and a 12.7 per cent decline compared to the 1,931 home sales in October 2012.
