August marked the third consecutive month that home sale activity in Greater Vancouver was below the 10-year average for the month. In contrast, home listing activity in the region has exceeded the 10-year norm every month since the beginning of the year. The Real Estate Board of Greater Vancouver (REBGV) reports that residential property sales of detached, attached and apartment properties on the region’s Multiple Listing Service® (MLS®) reached 2,378 in August. Thistotal represents an eight per cent increase compared to the 2,202 sales in August 2010, but also ranks as the third lowest total for August in the last 10 years.
On the theory that bold elements would downplay and balance a builky built-in, the owners of this home in the North York neighbourhood of Toronto, tried to solve the problem of an overbearing and very red cabinet by furnishing the family room with a huge red section couch and an area rug that had the same red tones as the cabinet.
New York transformation: “The apartment is approximately 1,400 square feet, with two bedrooms and two baths and a pleasant layout,” Berliner says. “But the finishes and color scheme were dark, and there was a lot of clutter. The home is on the twentieth floor with wraparound windows and amazing views with abundant natural light.”
After my second visit to Northern New Mexico, I began to agree with those who believe that this mountainous high-desert country holds a super-charged energy unlike anyplace else on earth. Many credit this magical quality to the first Native Americans, who lived in the canyons surrounding Santa Fe and Taos thousands of years ago, leaving their indelible spirit behind.
